Important Jail Policies and Visitation Procedures

Inmates at the Fayette County Jail are encouraged to have visitors from their families and friends. Each inmate is permitted one visitor per weekend for one hour. Prior to visiting, all visitors must be pre-approved and added to the inmate’s selected visitation list. Visitors are admitted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Visiting hours are as follows:

Saturday – 7:30 am until 1:30 pm

Sunday – 7:30 am until 1:30 pm

*Inmates on “Solo Recreation” status are allowed visitation on Saturday/Sunday from 1:30 PM – 3:30 PM

Policies regarding inmate mail are as follows:

1. Incoming inmate mail which contain pornographic, gang, or narcotic related materials will be rejected.
2. Incoming mail envelopes and letters must not contain stickers, tape, or anything other than the postal stamp on the outside. Any envelope or letter containing stickers or tape will be rejected.
3. Mail received at an address other than the Fayette County Detention Center cannot be hand delivered to the jail by friends and/or family of the inmate.
4. No magazines or hard cover books of any type will be accepted or allowed into the jail. Only paperback books and newspapers shall be allowed.
5. All newspapers and paperback books mailed to the jail must be mailed directly from the publisher or book supplier (Amazon, Barnes & Noble, etc.). No magazines will be accepted. Newspapers and books mailed or delivered by individuals will be rejected.
To deposit money into an inmate’s commissary account, family and friends can drop off a money order at the Fayette County Jail between the hours of 8am to 4pm daily. The money orders should be made payable to FCITF / Inmate’s Name (Fayette County Inmate Trust Fund).
