Important Jail Policies and Visitation Procedures

The Macon County Detention Center, which opened in 1999, houses sentenced and unsentenced individuals who have less than a year to serve or are awaiting sentencing.
There are three male dormitories at the facility. Two of the dormitories house 24 inmates each, while the third house 12 inmates. There is one female dormitory with a capacity of 12 female inmates. For inmates with special needs, there is a medical isolation cell and two single lock down cells.
The control room operator and detention officers who make regular rounds throughout the facility keep an eye on the dorms. There are also more than 20 video cameras throughout the facility that provide surveillance.
Dr. Jason Creel and Kellie Creel, R.N. provide non-emergency medical care to inmates at the Macon County Detention Center under contract.
Inmates are also allowed to attend Bible studies and worship services twice a week.
Counseling and substance abuse programs are also available to inmates.
