Since 1745, the Albemarle County Sheriff’s Office has served the citizens of Albemarle County. Since 2002, the Sheriff’s Office has been an accredited agency. We currently have 23 full-time and two part-time deputies on the force, as well as a Reserve Division of 60 sworn volunteers.

Important Jail Policies and Visitation Procedures

The Albemarle District Jail’s mission is to serve as a model organization for the citizens of Pasquotank, Perquimans, and Camden Counties by utilizing progressive and proactive communications, custody, and services that make the best use of available resources to protect the public, enhance the integrity of the law, promote community involvement, and reintegrate offenders into society as contributing members of their own community.

Visitation Hours:

Inmates will be allowed two (2) 30-minute on-site visits per week, with a maximum of two (2) people per visit. For a fee of $12.95 per 30 minute visit, inmates will have unlimited off-site visits. Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. for adult visitors only. Off-site visits are available Monday through Friday from 5:30pm to 9pm, Saturdays from 5:30pm to 11pm, and Sundays from 8am to 11:30am, 12:30pm to 4:30pm, and 5:30pm to 9pm. All children’s visits take place off-site. Clergy visits will take place during regularly scheduled on-site or off-site visitation hours.
