However, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts supports the Victim Information and Notification Everyday system, so you can visit the site to check the custody status of an offender and receive notifications. Important Jail Procedures and Policies
Visitors must register at the Reception Desk in the Public Lobby and complete a “Request to Visit” form. Present the completed form to the Public Lobby Officer at the Reception desk.
Visitors must comply with the following restrictions:
Visitors over the age of 18 are required to present a valid photo ID. This includes a state-issued photo ID with birth date or a photo ID and birth certificate.
Children under 17 must be accompanied by an adult, but photo identification is not required.
Any minor (under the age of 17) requesting a spousal visit must provide a valid photo ID and a copy of the father’s State-issued Marriage Certificate or the child’s Birth Certificate.
The Sheriff’s Department or the Department of Child Services must approve and authorize any minor (17 years or younger) who wishes to visit their incarcerated Father without another adult present. Must present a copy of the child’s Birth Certificate
Baby bottles must be made of plastic and not glass.
All personal items, including coats, jackets, purses, cell phones, and personal keys, must be stored in the Public Lobby’s coin-operated lockers. The Hampden County Sheriff’s Office is not responsible for missing or stolen items.
Visitors who appear to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be permitted entry.
Before entering a facility, guests must pass through a metal detector. Officers of the same gender may request that visitors submit to a pat or strip search. Any visitor who chooses not to submit to such a search may leave the facility.
No gum, candy, food, or beverages are permitted inside the facility.
Children of school age may not enter the facility during school hours unless accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
Visitors who attempt to bring contraband (drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, etc.) into the facility are subject to arrest and criminal prosecution.
Children must be supervised at all times by a parent or legal guardian in the Public Lobby and Visiting Room. Children may have their visits terminated if their behavior interferes with other visitors or the operation of the Visiting Room.
You must remain in the booth that has been assigned to you. Any requests to change booths are at the discretion of the Visiting Officer.
In the Public Lobby and Visiting Room, the use of obscene or abusive language, as well as any other gestures or actions, are strictly prohibited. No sexual behavior or gestures will be permitted.
As determined by the Public Lobby Officer, all guests must wear attire that is appropriate and acceptable.
Automobiles of visitors must be parked in the parking lot to the east of the facility. On State property, all vehicles must be locked and are subject to search. The Hampden County sheriff’s office cannot be held liable for any damages or stolen items from vehicles parked on State property.
Children and animals may not be left unattended in parked vehicles on State property.
Visitation Hours for the Public Monday through Sunday, visiting hours are from 2:40 to 5:50 pm and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. During the weekend, inmates with last names beginning with A-O are permitted visits on Saturday, while those with last names beginning with P-Z are permitted visits on Sunday. This is done so that everyone’s weekend visits are balanced.
Due to facility counts, there will be no visits from 11:50 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 5:50 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
