Each inmate’s full name, age, address, physical description, booking photo, booking date, arrest date, arresting agency, arresting officer, inmate classification, charges filed, and case status are all stored in the database.

Important Jail Procedures and Policies:

On Sunday evenings for Thursday’s visitation and Wednesday evenings for Sunday’s visitation, a signup sheet is passed around. Inmates are responsible for informing visitors of their permitted visitation time. Each inmate is allowed one 15-minute visitation per day. Each visit is limited to two visitors. Inmates are only permitted four visits per appointment. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times. Visitors may be asked to show identification.

The following are the visiting hours:

Male inmates – 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Thursdays and Sundays.
Female inmates – 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Thursdays and Sundays.

There are three ways to deposit money into an inmate’s account:

1. Inmates can be mailed money orders. They must be completed in the following order:

Make checks payable to Rowan County Detention Center, or RCDC.
In the memo, write: Inmate’s Name
Include the name of the sender/purchaser of the money order as well.

2. Use the cash machine in the jail’s front lobby to deposit money. This is open around the clock.

3. Make a SmartDeposit online or by phone at 1-866-394-0490.
