The Cowley County Jail does not keep an online list of its inmates. The State of Kansas, on the other hand, supports the Victim Information and Notification Everyday system, so you can visit the site to check and receive notifications on an offender’s custody status.

Cowley County voters approved a sales tax initiative in 2005, allowing construction of a new jail to begin. The prison opened in 2008 and was completed in 2009. The former jail, which had a recommended capacity of 38 beds, was demolished and replaced with a modern 220 bed facility. The core facilities were designed to accommodate 400 inmates in the event that the facility needed to be expanded in the future.

Before you can visit an inmate, you must be on their visitation list.
Before you come to visit, your name must be on the list. We will not request that you be added to the list from the inmate. You must make that arrangement with the inmate.

In the mail, only money orders or cashier checks are accepted. Please fill them out correctly with the inmate’s name as well as the sender’s name and address.
Cash is not accepted in the mail and will be returned to the sender.
At the visitation window, cash and money orders will not be accepted.
You can deposit money into an inmate’s account using the ATM machine located in the Visitation room. Cash, debit cards, and credit cards are accepted at the ATM.
