Important Jail Policies and Visitation Procedures

Inmates at the Wells County Jail are permitted to receive visitors. All visitors must provide picture identification. Additionally, they must adhere to the facility’s dress code. Individuals under the age of 18 must be the inmate’s child or spouse (proof of marriage is required). These individuals are required to travel with their legal guardian.

All guests are subject to inspection. Unauthorized items are required to be stored in the lobby’s lockers. Per visitation period, Minimum and Medium security inmates are permitted one 30-minute visit. Inmates in maximum security are permitted one 15-minute visit per week.

During the intake process, each inmate must complete two “Visitation” cards, listing up to four individuals they wish to see during normal visitation. Only the inmate’s children, spouse, parents, and grandparents are permitted to visit. Only those whose names appear on the cards will be permitted to register for a visit.
